The Canon G12 is the successor to the popular G11 model.  The new G12 Canon has all of the features of its predecessor with the addition of a new front control dial that is similar to the EOS models, a Hybrid IS feature to let the user get in on the close up action, and HD video recording in 720P.  The Canon G12 camera is highly flexible and is perfect for all around general use.  There are also many different accessories available for this great camera that can extend its use even further.

One noteworthy new feature of the Canon G12 is the addition of the ability to add a lens filter adapter.  When the lens extends to zoom in on something, the lens filter travels with it.  This gives the user full use of a lens filter throughout the zoom range of the lens.

The standard lens that is included with the G12 model is a 28mm wide angle lens with 5x zoom capability.  This is a great multi-purpose lens that lets the user take photos of landscapes as well as do some close up work.  The lens is compact enough so that it can completely retract into the camera body when not in use.  Don't be too quick to discount this lens because it is standard.  Canon has a well-earned reputation for making lenses of the highest quality that take sharp, vivid images.  This lens is no different.

Another element of the G12 that really helps photographers is the optical image stabilizer feature.  This feature helps those with slightly shaky hands or those who are taking pictures while moving to take sharp, clear pictures.  This feature really comes in handy when capturing action shots or taking pictures from a moving vehicle.
