A Great, Multi-Use Design
The Timex military watch has become widely sought after due to its classic but simple design, durability, and functionality. It was originally created during the 1960's but continues to endure to this day. The watch was modeled after watches from the 1940s but in actuality, is much more modern than that. There are subtle differences that most people won't notice. For example, the case on a new Timex military watch is slightly larger than its predecessors.
Even though this style of watch was not designed for civilian use, many people prefer this watch style to others because it can truly take a lot of abuse. It was initially designed for military use but it now enjoyed by civilians and military personnel alike.
Timex military watches are black colored with a black nylon strap and are very water resistant. The hands glow slightly in the dark so you don't always have to turn the lights on to see what time it is. These virtually indestructible watches are very easy to clean for those times when you will be wearing them while hunting, fishing, or enjoying other outdoors activities. In addition, the back comes off very easily for quick battery replacement.

Durable Specs
Today's quartz Timex military watches are not an exact duplication of watches from the 1940s. In fact, Timex didn't even start making these watches in the 1940s, even though the style is of that era. This isn't necessarily a bad thing since these watches look spectacular and are a perfect time piece for those who work outdoors or who enjoy rugged outdoors sporting activities. Most people don't even care what era the watch is from as long as it looks great, is durable, and will last for many years.
The nylon strap on the vintage Timex military watch was designed to resemble a NATO strap of the period. In fact, it more closely resembles the British G10 design than anything else. The crystal is a very low profile design that is slightly domed. The case is made from stainless steel so it won't be easy to scratch or dent one of these watches. And even if you did, it would probably just add more character to the watch since it already comes already “aged” from the factory. The factory aged look makes it look like it has already had a hard life before you even get it.
There's no denying it, vintage Timex military watches make great multi-purpose watches that are just as much at home on a camping trip as they are at the office.

I currently wear the Marathon Military field quartz watch w/date. It works perfect for my line of work in which is low light/no light conditions in which time tracking in a must.
